In an effort to account for his discoveries, Albert Einstein asserted that he depended most on his intuition which led him to conclude that imagination was more important than mere knowledge. To him, knowledge is limited whereas imagination encircles the universe (Taylor, 2002). This concept has elicited a strong analytical debate with some agreeing and others contesting with Alberts view. I tend to agree with Alberts assertion that imagination is more important than knowledge. Having all the knowledge in your possession is not enough instead one needs some imagination which will serve as a guide to make the knowledge more useful. Rules are not static and therefore imagination comes in handy for knowledge to make sense in the ever-changing world.

Knowledge and Imagination
We have to appreciate the fact that both knowledge and imagination are important since we have relied on the two concepts in our developmental stages as species. But in review of the two concepts, a relationship between them has to be established. Taylor argues that knowledge is a stepping stone towards imagination with the two being considered as independent of each other. She describes imagination as something which supersedes memory and one that is not connected to present senses. Knowledge on the other hand is said to concern itself with what is current to the senses. It is also stored and shared repository of publicly acceptable thoughts, many frozen into physical symbols (written or spoken), transmitted through time and space (Taylor, 2002 Para 7). Imagination has therefore to be entrenched in our knowledge and that the more memories we can accumulate, the more materials we avail for ourselves to work with (Taylor, 2002).

Imagination can be described as a survival strategy which helps us come up with solutions, look forward to challenges, and visualize alternatives. Knowledge is well known for facilitating community and continuity, on the other hand imagination facilitates change. Knowledge is binding and may bind us to what can be considered as oppressive existence whereas imagination known for its ability to facilitate survival may help us escape the oppressive existence. Imaginations therefore do help us take a glimpse into the unknown future, giving us alternatives and possibilities that are essential in reaching out to our goals. However, knowledge is also required to aid the imagination and keep it in check or else it may become unproductive andor even dangerous. Nevertheless, imagination can be hailed as an essential tool in surviving the ever-changing world as it may challenge the existing rules and traditions by piecing information together in a novel way (Taylor, 2002).

Imagination has been used to a certain level in every days life. Imagination has been credited for the different inventions and innovations that have turned out to be very useful to mankind. Knowledge is equally important but individuals have to know about how to channel it into different fields of activities for successful exploration. Intelligence is of essence if one has to employ imagination in achieving the goals set in his or her life. Knowledge can be learnt over time whereas imagination will take intelligence for it to be realized. The two concepts are valuable but when it comes to relating them, imagination seems to take the upper hand even though this is culture dependant according to Taylor. Imagination will flourish only when the resulting products are of high value to the people concerned.
